Here is my Whine for the week. Between Monday and Tuesday I have an architect that would like to emasculate me with a dull deer antler, Suspend a contractors licence, and worst of all shut down new business. I swear I do not like being heavy handed. It goes against my very nature. I hope like heck the rest of the week is non-eventful.

I don't think anybody likes being heavy handed, but sometimes it happens. in a small area such as yours word will travel quick and hopefully other will fall into line.besides you probably made more folks happy than not.Cheer up it's hump day as cda say's more good days than bad.

I suspect none of the three things you mentioned in the OP happened in a vacuum, but are consequences resulting from the neglect of those responsible. Being a good executive does not make you an *****; it does mean you sometimes have to execute though.

One thing you can be sure of . . . you are apparently not the only one in your jurisdfiction having a rough week! Carry on.

There is always someone who is having a more difficult time then you. Be thankful you are not them

Just think you have two more days to top Monday and Tuesday.

Had a fire call yesterday with a bad pull station and had to remove around 250 +/- people from a theater. Then close the doors until they got the system back on line. Now no fire, but the alarm system had issues that need correction. I had a parking lot full of parents and kids very upset with me. Some days you got to love the Job!

You could have done a fire watch and just charge them the cost of popcorn and a coke

Hay once I shut down all the grills at a restaurant on Father's Day! No steak!

Just got back from the theater and the Alarm company did not show up to replace the pull station as promised. Got an email they had to order the part. BS. It is a pull station. Now I call these wonder people and got an answering service. Now the come the morning I will be really ticked.

RJJ,

If they can't perform the task, mandate a internal "fire watch" with the manager of the theater and until the pull station has been replaced, tested and accepted every 1/2 hour a responsible party (like him/her) shall patrol the entire facility and document on a form acceptable to AHJ that the area was evaluated. The responsible party will also need meance to notify emergency forces at all times the facility is occupied. The costly closure or fire truck and minimum of 4 personnel are the only other alternatives :-(

If they had the part shipped overnight, they would have had it today. Probably. Air freight vs no customers, pay the freight. The repairs/ upgrade, do during the downtime. And a pull station should be on the shelf at the alarm company.

All great answers! Yes why not overnight it! I don't trust the fire watch. When they are closed down they move mountains. Just had an email from Corporate that the service tech is in route to install a new pull station. Some days you just have to be the Bear. ;)
