Can someone point me to the 2018 IBC section or information on ingress stairs and ramps for entry? Ada info if applicable. I understand the construction is clear for egress, just not sure where the entry information is located such as landings and widths and such. Thank you!

There is no distinction between ingress and egress stairs. If stairs are used for ingress (i.e., entry), then they are used for egress, too, and shall be designed as such. People have a tendency to egress via the pathway they used to get to where they are, especially if they are unfamiliar with the building.

Chapter 11, Section 1102.1, requires buildings to comply with the code and ANSI/ICC A117.1. ANSI/ICC A117.1 requires stairs to comply with Section 504. Landings at stairs shall provide the applicable maneuvering clearances at doorways per ANSI/ICC A117.1 Section 404.2.3. Virtually all of this is duplicated in the 2010 ADA Standards.

Thanks RLGA! I was banging my head trying to find the distinction between the two.

I don't think codes require ingress to buildings.......
Really? I meant what codes pertain to the entry into the building, which there isn't a distinction made from what I have read. Maybe so, just havent personally seen anything.

If you can't enter a building, you're pretty safe from any hazard the building might present.

@ihavefaith shows Texas as location. If you’re working on a project in Texas, the accessibility standards are here:

Thanks!!!

Genius! That would definitely make things a whole lot easier.
