What is your procedure for interior demolition permits in a protected R2 high rise when there is no remodeling plan submitted yet?

How do you handle the breach of the rated walls now that may sit for an indefinite amount of time?

Often, all 4 rated walls, including 3 the have other units and a common area on the other side now have a membrane removed.

Rarely have this occur locally other than within commercial TI's in a strip-mall, but given the R use, you could either require both units to be vacant, or require a fire watch.

If i was the contractor ... i would expect to be told i could demo everything except the sheetrock on the party walls.

Having no control of what happens inside the unit means that the unit could be used for storage. The compromised rated walls should be restored. They don't have to be pretty to look at.
