At the end of this month I'll be doing a free class in Olathe, Kansas on code requirements pertaining to door openings. Our local office invited some code officials to attend, along with architects, facility managers, hardware suppliers, security integrators, and others. The class is eligible for AIA continuing education credits, as well as credits through the Door & Hardware Institute. One of the code officials asked if it was eligible for ICC credits. There isn't enough time for the ICC to approve me as a provider and review the class, so I can't provide ICC credits this time. But when I looked into this a while back, several AHJs told me that courses certified by other organizations (like AIA) could be used toward their continuing education requirements.
Does anyone know if the jurisdictions in that area will accept credits from providers other than those registered with the ICC? Or who I would ask?
The flier is too large a file to upload, but if any of you are interested in attending, I can send it to you.
