i can't believe some peoples actions. i did an electrical inspection the other day. the OWNER of the outfit was there to show me the work. 800 amp 480 volt , 3 phase service. our poco requires a disco ahead of the meter to prevent exposure to arc flash when pulling or setting a meter on 3 phase services( i quess a hotstick, gloves and the cutouts on the pole are to much work these days?) i did a "tug test" on the conductors, to see if it was good. i pulled a neutral right out of the lug in the main, the c phase in the first disco was loose and "racking" (clicking and could have been yanked with little resistance. needeless to say TORQUE came up guickly in more ways then one.) i always used a torque wrensh when working as a field electrician, now, as an inspectior it simply blows my mind the c@#p i see and have to explain to "licensed and bonded" ec's. no one seems to check on their journeyman or apprentices, none of them seem to read or care about what's in the code book. seems like it's a free for all out there. i cite code, chapter and verse, open the book, show it to them, explain it to them, and i get "deer in the headlights" or, "i know it's in there, but no one ever brought it up before so i never paid attention to it".wow! unbelievable, i think it's a fishing license. . done with vent

More than once I've pulled conductors out of services. I was once accused of LOOSENING the set screws, by an EC that I had busted before.

codeworks,

Thanks for the venting!.....Good to know that others are also experiencing

the same frustrations.

IMO, ...it is not going to get any better.......We [ code officials ] are fighting

an uphill battle, and the battle seems to be on both sides of the counter.
