A Pembroke Pines man who uses a wheelchair filed an American with Disabilites Act lawsuit Friday against The Elbo Room, the iconic Fort Lauderdale bar featured in the film "Where the Boys Are."

In court documents, Michael Petinsky alleges the bar violates accessibility standards because it lacks level flooring, lowered bar counter, sufficient seating for the disabled outside and handicapped access to the upstairs balcony. Petinksy also claims the men's restroom has "many ADA violations," including no rear or side grab bars, a too small doorway and the toliet being too close to the wall.

Petinsky called himself a "tester" in the legal filing, saying he routinely goes to businesses and public places checking for barriers to the disabled. He filed a lawsuit last month against the Commercial Plaza shopping center in Tamarac after visiting the Hong Kong City BBQ, saying there were not enough handicapped parking spaces and that the restaurant's restroom was not ADA compliant
