Legacy Code Report ESR 2690 & R403.1.6

Section 403.1 .6 references requiring " Approved fasteners " for interior bearing walls that are not structural braced wall panels.

Definition of Approved states " approved by building official " .

Question 1 - does the approval of Ramset fasteners via ESR 2690

provide a building official a technical means to support acceptance of Ramset fasteners

Question 2 - do ESR reports ( thru ICC acceptance )

supersede any specific written code and where/if a Legacy code may be contrary to written code, which one prevails.

Is this the portion of text you are referencing?

Interior bearing wall sole plates on monolithic slab foundation shall be positively anchored with approved fasteners.

Can I assume you are talking about walls that are not a part of a braced wall line?

Upon further review:

Q1: yes, as long as all conditions of use in the report are complied with.

Q2: the ESR report does not supercede code; the report verifies that as an alternative to the prescriptive code (see Section 2.0), the code requirements the listing references are met when using the product as described.

Aaron,

Legacy Reports are not code requirements. They may be used by the code official; but, where differences between legacy reports and requirements of the code occur; the provisions of the codes shall apply.

Legacy Reports are helpful where the code isn't specific conserning types of materials and methods used; but, the code official is not required to accept or use them.
