I note that in the 2013 CBC / IBC, libraries have a egress occupant load of 50 net for reading rooms and 100 gross for stack areas.
My problem has more to do with occupant loads for plumbing fixtures per 2013 CPC appendix A, which is still based on the 2001 CBC / UBC, believe it or not!
That code simply says 30 SF per person for "A-3 libraries", with no distinction between reading areas, public stacks, archival book storage or staff offices. So, I now have a situation where my fixture occupant load is greater than the actual occupancy limit set by MOE Chapter 10.
Under the 2013 CPC / 2001 CBC, Is it OK to subdivide the library into "library (reading rooms and stacks)", "warehouse (archive storage)" and "office" for the purpose of coming up with a reasonable fixture count?
