I need to get air to circulate through a small equipment closet. The door is an existing door along a 1hr corridor, thus the door is rated. I know that I can put a UL approved Louver with a fusible link of a limited sized in a 45 min rated HM door - can I put one in a Wood Door?

cda is right - you can't make that type of modification to an existing fire door in the field. The use of louvers is also limited in certain locations such as smoke barriers and smoke partitions. By the time the fusible link melts, smoke has already passed through the louver, so the means of egress could become compromised. Here's a little more info: I Dig Hardware / I Hate Hardware » Louvers in Fire-Rated Doors

kmcgah,

1st, ...Welcome to The Building Codes Forum!

2nd, ...How much air are you talking about?....Is the existing

rated door required to be a smoke gasketed door ?......If not,

does air flow underneath the door ?......If the door seals

completely, you will have to pipe in your circulation air

from another entry point besides the existing wood door,

without penetrating the rated corridor assemblies [ RE:

smoke & fire dampers ].
