On the main page the largest amount of real estate is occupied by the "Articles" window in the center.

However, the same articles have occupied this space for months.

I suggest moving either "Recent Posts" or "Recent Threads" into the center area, where it could possibly display the 20 newest threads/posts and have enough text displayed to understand what they are.

Articles could then be moved to the left margin.

Or split the middle section and have articles occupy the first few lines and new threads occupy the remainder.

I just think that as the main entrance to the board, it would be advantageous to have the largest portion of the main page dedicated to displaying recent activity.

I don't use weather or the calendar. Possibly switch to two columns so we can display more of the information that is used by the majority. For example, put the CSPC, Articles and Recent Posts in left (narrow) column, and display recent threads in the remainder of the real estate.

haha duly noted.. however, it was 4°F here this morning, so I stand by my original statement.. 19°F is like t-shirt weather!

Check it out now. Made some changes. Not thrilled with it but I think it is better. Trying to figure out how to show more posts, then again if you want to see more posts, come to the forum

You could put my picture there; but, all we would get is a bunch of beautiful young ladies; who really wouldn't understand what we are talking about. :D

By the way; have we fixed the problem of the list of " New Posts " or " What's New "; so it always lists at least the last 20 posts or 5 days of posts? No, I haven't looked; because it aggrevates me when only one or two pop up; and, I am old and have onset alzheimers; and my young nurse says it ruins her day when I'm not in the mood

for a game of checkers.

Ok, I just checked and this post was the ONLY ONE, that showed up. I know it's possible to have at least the last couple of days posts listed; because that is what I used on the old, ICC BB. It really helps people; and keeps recent threads from getting buried and lost.

We really should do something about this. People should not have to click on each topic and search to see what has been recently discussed. It is very time consuming and most people just give up and only read whatever is visible at the time they see our main forum page.

I get the new posts since my last visit. I am using the "New Posts" link at the top. I got 2 pages of new posts since my last visit this morning.

I suspect that clearing cookies will not display any new posts, if that helps at all.

Now that's the best idea put forth regarding the site since inception!

Ha! Checked out the "new" home page layout. The recent messages showed two posts from the off-topic taxes joke. We'll get all kinds of people signing up today!
