Hello. I wasn't sure if this was the proper area of the forum for this question or if another section was more appropriate, but here goes.

In commercial applications, you generally see electric rooms, mechanical rooms, and trash rooms identified as such with signage. Is this a code requirement? I've always seen the signage and just assumed it was code. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

jmc,

The Link is to a previous discussion on this Forum regarding interior signage

In Ch. 3 of the IBC, Section 302.1, there is the language "Occupancy
classification is the formal designation of the primary purpose of the building,
structure
or portion thereof"............Also, look in Appendix E & H of the IBC for
more Code Sections.

The IFC also some signage requirements.
