medical waiting room needs 1 hour walls & ceilings?

existing medical use "B" business

10 story building, 7150 sf per floor

Pennsylvania dept of health during inspection required a separate waiting room from existing gastroenterology for endoscopy.

the architect is demoing an existing exam room and building new 1 hour walls & ceiling on the 5th floor???

100 sf, type II, IB

what code chapter & verse would require this?

another architect on the 11th floor did a similar reno for rooms and had non rated partitions....
 
Found the letter that references this:

20.3.7 Subdivision of Building Space.

20.3.7.1 Ambulatory health care facilities shall be separated

from other tenants and occupancies by walls having not less

than a I-hour fire resistance rating. Such walls shall extend

from the floor slab below to the floor or roof slab above. Doors

shall be constructed of not less than J3 / 4-in. (4.4-cm) thick,

solid-bonded wood core or the equivalent and shall be

equipped with positive latches. These doors shall be self-closing

and shall be kept in the closed position except when in

use. Any vision panels shall be of fixed fire window assemblies

in accordance with 8.2.3.2.2.
