Next project: This $49.6M, 115,380 square foot facility will provide high bay aircraft rework shops, plant services for aircraft overhaul, and storage space. This project is expected to achieve LEED® Silver Certification from the US Green Building Council. Sustainable Design features include the use of water-efficient landscaping, the optimization of energy performance by at least 34%, use of materials with recycled content, and more. Location is Coronado, CA.

Use to work at north island, neat base and was also born there!!!
 
$430 a square foot. Why can't they be satisfied with a nondescript building that looks like a hanger instead of a museum? Well that's because they are spending found money.
 
You could probably get like, LEED Diamond-Lithium Ion status if you just built a giant Quonset hut with swamp coolers, skylights and infrared heating.

But that's probably not what we're talking about with them.

Not clear is this project owned by the US government or the military?
 
The military is part of the US government; having said that LEED certification adds a big cost (not so much to the construction as the documentation).
