This is the second trailer in the same M/H park that has had a fire in it since the City ceded jurisdiction back to the state. I contacted the state, then me and the FM cordoned off and tagged the trailer at the state's behest. I talked to the manager and he informed us that all of the trailers were now owner occupied and not rentals so they didn't have to do anything to secure the trailer. I'm waiting on the state for what they are going to do about the trailer and the park. If the state pulls their permit to operate, it reverts back to the City and we can require them to go back to square one and start with planning. The trailer is totaled, no saying if there were smoke detectors. FM says preliminary indication is that the oil furnace was the cause. The only casualty was a puppy, both parents and all 4 grade-school age kids escaped without injury. Sue, where the west still lives.........

hats off to the volunteer fire dept. for saving that much of it! from what i have seen here, i don't think i would want jurisdiction in trailer parks.

pwood -

Volunteer Fire Dept. was there in 5 minutes flat at 6:40 AM. These guys are great! What is even more impressive in my book is the fact that the 240 gallon oil tank didn't go up with the trailer. If you look at photo #4, you can see the tank to the right of the steps and against the trailer.

I mentioned the fire at city council last week and one of the councilperson's said it was good that we had given the state back the parks.
