2013 Update to the Florida Building Code

Rule Development Workshop Regarding Rule 61G20-1.001 Florida Building Code Adopted

Detailed reports and tracking charts for proposed glitch code changes to the 2013 Update to the Florida Building Code

________________________________________________________________________

This is to inform you that the Florida Building Commission “the Commission” will hold a public workshop August 22, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. or as soon as the matter is brought before the Commission in accordance with its agenda, which may entail further consideration on subsequent days, at the Boca Raton Marriott at Boca Center, 5150 Town Center Circle, Boca Raton, Florida 33486. The purpose of the workshop is to accept public input regarding the approved modifications “supplement” to the selected edition of the model codes and the Commission’s Technical Advisory Committees review and recommendations concerning additional proposed “Glitch” modifications. The combination of the selected model codes (2012 International Codes) and the approved modifications “supplement” comprise the 2013 Florida Building Code in conformity with the triennial update process specified in Section 553.73(3)(6), Florida Statutes. Local technical amendments to the 2010 Florida Building Code and continuation of previously adopted Florida-specific amendments will also be considered. The approved modifications “supplement”, the detailed reports and tracking charts delineating the committee recommendations with regard to the proposed Glitch modifications, and the Commission Glitch Review Process are available for review and download via the Commission website, www.floridabuilding.org at the following link:

http://www.floridabuilding.org/fbc/thecode/2013_Code_Development_Process.htmlPlease download the files of interest and review modifications of interest before the workshop to familiarize yourself with the issues. Also, please be advised that as per the Commission Glitch Review Process, any individual who is planning to pull an amendment off the Commission consent agendas for further discussion by the Commission must submit his or her request via email to mo.madani@myfloridalicense.com by July 22, 2013. For more information regarding the Commission Glitch Review Process and the description of the consent agendas, please see link above.

The electronic detailed reports will be used at the workshop to follow Commission action on the proposed glitch code changes. Although the detailed reports will be projected onto a screen for general viewing, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop and extension cords as it may be hard to read the projected text in a large room. Electronic files of the detailed reports will be available at the workshop for installation onto participants’ laptops. No hard copy will be available at the meetings. However, you may print the detailed reports and the tracking chart from our web site and bring it with you to the meeting.Should you have questions, we can be reached at (850) 487-1824.

Thank you!
