For three days last week I rode with the local Police Motor Officers as a traffic marshal for the Cascade Cycling Classic. It was my second year working the CCC. I can't tell you how much fun it is. The riding is tight and precise as our duty is to stop traffic ahead of the bicyclists and convince the motorists to wait till the peloton passes. When we move between races we move in a tight two by two formation even around the roundabouts. It's a great exercise that forces my riding skill way up. It used to be that any one could volunteer to be a traffic marshal but these last two years only motorcycle safety instructors are invited. All told I rode nearly 400 miles marshaling for three races.
I'm told I can only link six images so I'll put the last five in a second post.
