Yesterday I had six people pass the level I electrical inspectors class mandated by NC. I suppose that I filled them full of my ideas on just what the NEC has to say and that a lot of the standard of practices they will read on discussion forums is way off base.

At least one is a member of this site. We suggested this site to one and all of them :cheers

I passed that class a few years ago. Trying to find classes such as those outside of NC has proven challenging.

Mike needs to go international.

JW, I see you teach the NC courses. I wrote in a different post about being able to come over and sit through the NC standard courses, not sure if it is permitted though. Back when I was over there I seem to remember the classes I was in had inspectors and GC's, I think I even took some when I was a GC so I am thinking there should be no problem with an out of state inspector sitting through them. Do you know if that is allowed or who to contact to be sure (would it be Kathy)? I was looking at the schedule on the DOI website, I didn't see any level II classes that went straight through (as opposed to a two weekend course) so I might have trouble unless I can split them up. I tend to do better if I combine classroom learning with self study and I can't find any classes here.

For the three levels of inspector classes mandated by the "Q" board of the Department of Insurance it is up to each community college as to the dates and times of the classes. The Q board mandates the amount of hours each is to take and the content that each class is to cover.

It is then the community college that sets their price for each class and the schedule of each class. It has been experience that has led to the two weekend deal. This gives the student time to digest the information from the first weekend before sitting for the two hour 80 question test that is given by each instructor at the end of each class. Each student must make 70 or better before being allowed to sit for the three and a half hour 150 question test for their Standard Certificate. Each student is allowed to sit for this test twice before being required to attend the community college class and passing their test again.

From time to time I do have someone to monitor my classes but the arrangements are made with the Director of Continuing Education Department of Randolph Community College. I am not allowed to have more students in the classroom than what is outlined on my roll sheet. It would please my heart to have you visit. Should you need more information send me a PM.

From the Atlantic Ocean to the Tenn. State line, From Va. to SC state line is represented in this Level II Standard Electrical Inspectors class. Two students that are returning students which is one of the best compliments any instructor could ever receive, ie they think that I am good enough that they returned.

I commend you for teaching. Sharing knowledge is hard for some. I think teaching is fun if you enjoy the subject matter and it certainly helps to keep you fresh with the material. I would take your classes if I lived closer.

Well I just finished my 80 question test that they will have two hours to complete with a score of 70 or better in order to get a seat for the Standard test.

I have included a question on the proper bonding of metal water pipes as outlined in 250.104(A)(1)
