I have a 400A 480V ATS to change out in an existing structure later this month. Went by today to lay out and organize material list. What I found is both the 208y/120 and 480y/277 systems are identified the same, AØ black, BØ red and CØ blue. So do I re identify the feeders I'm dealing with on both ends in an attempt to comply or do I say grandfather and walk away.

Thanks

I would say if you touch it, you own it so change it. The areas you do not touch, not your problem. Should it be done right? Yes. Next question is what kind of customer service do you want to provide?

The highest quality possible with the lowest cost to my shop. Not really following your line of reasoning here sir.

First call the inspector and get his take so there are no inspection issues. 2nd, if you correct some other problems for no cost, it sends a message that you have excellent customer service and nonchalantly tells them that the last company in there screwed up so you are more desirable for future work.

Or you can pass inspection and go home but you won't stand out

let your conscience be your guide....if some less knowledgeable electrician or electrical helper injures or kills their selves due to mislabeling, could you live with it? besides, what is involved in re-applying the correct color electrical tape to correctly identify the conductors....
