Advanced framing, a system of construction framing techniques designed to optimize material usage and increase energy efficiency, is featured in the new APA publication, Advanced Framing Construction Guide, Form M400.

It appears so: Section R602.10.5.3 sends you to figure R602.10.4.4(1) which will send you to note A in figure R602.3(2) for alternative design; NOTE A of figure R602.3(1)

If you are in a high wind area and are required to install holdown devices you may not be be able to do so. Depending on the shear force your holdown device may require either a solid post and multi-ply stud corner. We use the 2009 IECC here and it requires insulated corner studs, however we cannot typical comply because of the requirements of holdown devices. Health and Safety thumps energy.
