The Architect Office that I have worked on for three years closed it's doors on June 30th. The Principal Architect has had a tough three years - broken ankle - throat cancer with numerous surgeries and radiation treatments. The great news is that he is cancer free and wants to enjoy the last years without the daily pressure/ hassles of running an Architect Office.

I sincerely wish him the best, (Don't tell him I said this as he was the best boss I ever worked for)

I have been blessed and have received a job offer to work in Coastal North Carolina in the middle of COVID 19 scare - A lot of design professionals are busy today but their outlook for the up coming year is marginal because the COVID 19 upheaval.

The sad thing is my best friend (wife) will not be able to relocate yet - We have family ties and work ties in our current location and my wife has six years before her state retirement kicks in - so I will be traveling two hours to go to work M-F in North Carolina - We are in the process of purchasing a small beach condo (Not ocean view - good god have you seen the prices for them). So things are working out............. Hope you are doing well in these times and hopefully you can count your blessings too.

Glad you could land on your feet BB, and have a positive outlook on it!

Bummer you will be losing time with your best friend, tough decision, don't know if I could do it. But then, I am not faced with having to make the choice.

Good luck, keep posting!

Well Bob a two hour commute sounds daunting unless it's one hour each way in which case I have done that for years. A coworker with a long commute bought a Tesla with the autopilot. He doesn't rely on the autopilot to take over completely but he says that the stress level has gone way down. Where he used to be worn out from the drive he now claims that he stopped crawling to the front door.

Congratulations **Builder Bob** on remaining employed,
and "Thanks" for sharing this new chapter in your life.
BTW, ...it is O.K. and recommended to tell your "soon to be
former boss" that he was the best.......I am sure that those
spoken sentiments from you will mean a lot to him !

If possible, try to embrace the change and make the best
of it sir !.......I am sure that your family appreciates the income
and other benefits.

FWIW, ...I have relatives in Jacksonville, NC, at least I
think that they are still there.

I enjoyed working in NC, they seem to have a pretty good state-wide system. It offers more consistency than most other places and has a pretty receptive interpretation and appeal process at the state level (at least it did many years ago). I still use their website and newsletters to keep me informed. They had a great accessibility section, but personnel has changed so not sure of it's current state.

Good luck. BTW, my wife's car has adaptive cruise control (among other gadgets I can't figure out), at first I hated it but after a while on long drives it actually brought my stress down.
