New contractor workman's comp question

I just got my General B license in California and I am getting ready to start my first job. I will be hiring a construction laborer and need to get workman's comp. I've seen online workman's comp that says it takes minutes to apply. Are these sites a scam or does anyone have good experience with any? Or, do you have a recommendation based on your own experience?

Thanks in advance,
