NFPA 110 Question for Standby Generator

Currently reviewing a project proposing a diesel standby generator in a wine barrel storage room. Per NFPA 110, I would classify this as a Level 2 EPS. Now regarding the location of the generator:

1) NFPA 110 7.2.1 notes that LEVEL 1 EPS shall be located in a separate room with a list of other requirements for fire separation etc.

2) NFPA 110 7.11.1 however states that "The room in which the EPS equipment is located shall not be used for other purposes that are not directly related to the EPS". This does not make distinction between Level 1 and Level 2 EPS.

I am a bit confused as to if I can approve this generator as it is located in a room used for another purpose (barrel storage) based on these two code sections.

Without a distinction or exception the statement "The room in which the EPS equipment is located shall not be used for other purposes that are not directly related to the EPS" applies to all EPS.

If was the wine barrel owner I would not want a stinking generator in with my wine barrels.

I certainly agree with TheCommish. Actually since you're in Sacramento I would probably just put it outside with maybe a shed roof over it and not worry about building a complete building.
