Introduced in 2008, the California Green Building Standards Code (Title 24, Part 11 – known as "CALGreen") is the nation's first state-mandated green building code. The 2013 version of CALGreen took effect on Jan. 1, 2014, and is now being enforced. At this workshop, you will learn how the most recent code changes apply to nonresidential structures, including a review of the mandatory measures and voluntary tiers. We'll also provide helpful tools and established strategies for achieving CALGreen compliance.

Speaker: Susan Di Giulio, LEED AP, Building Design and Construction; California Registered Architect

Susan has more than 25 years' experience as an architect with involvement in a wide variety of residential, institutional and commercial projects. She currently works as Sustainability Building Project Manager for Zinner Consultants, providing strategy and client support to meet green building goals, focusing on LEED, CALGreen and municipal green building programs. Susan is a California Registered Architect, LEED AP and Certified Green Building Professional with Build It Green. She earned a master's degree in architecture from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in architectural studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

This workshop is the second of a two-part series offered by The City of Chula Vista’s Sustainable Communities Program to help local contractors and developers understand the CALGreen code.
