Hello!

Trying to determine an Occupancy Classification for a project's new tenant.
What's the difference between a "Print Shop" with a Business Classification,
and a "Printing or Publishing" facility with a Factory Classification?

Is it the volume of printed output? The square footage of the facility? The type of equipment used?

Thanks for any input on the matter!

I would consider the Group B occupancy to be your typical consumer print-on-demand shop, such as FedEx Office; whereas, the Group F-1 occupancy would apply to mass commercial production, such as books, magazines, newspapers, and other printing for packaging or store-bought products (writing pads, stationery, greeting cards, etc.).

Ah... that may be the difference I was looking for. Printing for packaging...
Even if they're using smaller equipment, it's still being packaged for product shipment/delivery.

It's a company that prints sheet music, that is shipped out to online clients and music stores.

Thanks, Ron!

About how many sq ft is the area the printing equipment takes up

And how much sq ft total is the entire business
