Occupancy Sensors High-Rise Corridors

Why are they not required? Does not say anything about corridors:

C405.2 Lighting controls (Mandatory). Lighting systems
shall be provided with controls as specified in Sections
C405.2.1, C405.2.2, C405.2.3, C405.2.4 and C405.2.5.
Exceptions: Lighting controls are not required for the following:
1. Areas designated as security or emergency areas that
are required to be continuously lighted.
2. Interior exit stairways, interior exit ramps and exit
passageways.

3. Emergency egress lighting that is normally off.

1008.2 Illumination required.
The means of egress serving a room or space shall be illuminated at all times that the room or space is occupied.

I would say they are not allowed since the corridor serves multiple residential units that may or may not be occupied.

And then there is section 1025 requirements for high rises.

Why are they not required? Does not say anything about corridors:

C101.3 Intent.
This code shall regulate the design and construction of buildings for the effective use and conservation of energy over the useful life of each building. This code is intended to provide flexibility to permit the use of innovative approaches and techniques to achieve this objective. This code is not intended to abridge safety, health or environmental requirements contained in other applicable codes or ordinances.

Yes...Shall be illuminated at 1 Footcandle.....Everything else CAN shut off.....

1008.2.1 Illumination level under normal power. The
means of egress illumination level shall be not less than 1
footcandle (11 lux) at the walking surface.

Yep looks lie there would have to be one outside every room???

Otherwise, the room in the middle leaves, and does not hit a sensor till at the end of the hallway, or wherever it is???

Not sure why management would want it, as far as security
