I'm trying to determine the occupant load factor (OLF) for an exam room in an I-3 occupancy. I'm quite new to code planning and have only recently picked up the essentials. I've referenced Table 1004.1.2 in CBC 2013, but I was uncertain where exam rooms fall into this and if there were any special exceptions when working with an I-3 occupancy.

Inpatient treatment areas

Outpatient areas

Sleeping areas

240 gross

100 gross

120 gross

That's from the 2012 IBC. The 'topic' is 'Industrial Uses', not sure if it should be 'Institutional' ...

Ok exactly what kind of I-3 do you have?????

308.4 Group I-3. This occupancy shall include buildings and structures that are inhabited by more than five persons who are under restraint or security. An I-3 facility is occupied by persons who are generally incapable of self-preservation due to security measures not under the occupants' control. This group shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

Correctional centers

Detention centers

Jails

Prerelease centers

Prisons

Reformatories
