opening for shower

help..can't find it. currently on 2003 I-codes.

minnimum width of opening for shower.

know it's somewhere (i've even referenced it) but now that i need it i can't find it.

may be 06 or 09 IRC?

"2006 IRC, (added) P2708.1.1 Access. The shower compartment access and egress opening shall have a munimum clear and unobstructed finished width of 22 inches."

thanks UB. now 2003 IRC doesn't have P2708.1.1 so my next project is to convince homeowner/builder that it would be in his intrest to maintain a 22" min. opening. standard shower door widths etc.

you probably can't convince them to do anything if it's not spelled out in the code
