Yes, and the hidden "landmines" for ADA compliance include:
- Sink faucet controls should be fully operable within accessible reach range, i.e. don't just touch the end of the handle only at its closest position, but also at its furthest position away from the front of counter.
- Waste disposal under sink often limits ability to move wheelchair far enough forward to be able to reach to faucet controls and switches located towards the rear of the sink.
- NEC requires electrical outlets within 2' at any point along the backsplash. This gets difficult if not impossible at the inside corner when cabinets are 24" or more deep. (ADA limits parallel reach range to 24", FHA limits it to 25").
- Where the bodies and/or handles of appliances such as the range stick out further than 24", if the cabinets to the side of the appliance are less than 48" wide, parallel reach range of 24" is not possible.
