Hello,

Many of you have already registered for the upcoming training, thank you. Your confirmation and reminder will be coming shortly.

Those of you who have not registered yet, please consider attending this excellent training opportunity. We still have seats available.

This note is also to ask each of you to extend this invitation to folks in fire service and the service company community that you work with.

If you are an AHJ, would you think about the service companies that you work with (installers, test & inspect companies) that would benefit from this class. I don’t have every fire equipment service company address; if you know someone, please forward this information to them with an encouragement that they register and attend the May 19 class.

If you are a service company, please forward this information to the AHJ that you work with and encourage them to register and attend the May 18th class.

ORFED is committed to the improvement and professionalism of the fire equipment service industry and our primary mission is to seek out and bring education opportunities to service companies that install and maintain fire equipment in business, and the Authorities Having Jurisdiction that serve those communities.

Call me if you have questions, 503-201-3396. See you at the Training!

2012 Tech Training & Annual Owners Meeting

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Salem Conference Center

200 Commercial St. SE

Salem Oregon 97301

503-589-1700

This year’s program will be presented by Chris Lyman of Chris Lyman Consulting. While Chris comes to us as an independent contractor to teach Oregon Fire Code, he undoubtedly will bring a wealth of insight from his years in fire service. Chris will lead us through an examination of

2010 Oregon Fire Code, Chapter 9 Fire Protection Systems

To include outlining pertinent changes and additions as a result of

• NFPA 10: Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers, 2010 Edition

• NFPA 13: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, 2010 Edition

• NFPA17A: Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems, 2009 Edition

• NFPA 96: Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations, 2011 Edition

Chris will be defining for us, generally, AHJ expectations and requirements of service contractors when performing required maintenance. He will lead a discussion on the specifics (in Oregon) of the training and certifications now required for maintaining fire protection equipment. There will be a round table session to discuss technician concerns and comments.

This is expected to be one of the best seminars we have had in a long time!

Geared to doing business in Oregon!

This seminar will meet recertification training requirements for portables and systems!

As part of ORFED’s mission, the cost to supporting members is kept as low as possible to encourage many participants from every company. The more professional your technicians become, the stronger your company.

Our 2012 Supporting Dues Form is also included. If you haven’t sent your dues in yet it is not too late! Support your State Association and get discounted training for your techs.
