Outer Covering

How many conductors are there? Also, what is the approx. distance from the back

of the meter cab. to the disconnect? RE: Article 230.50(B)(1)(5) & 338.100.

.

Francis, is the se cable in conduit? If so I would say that the conductors must be marked and generally they are not marked inside a cable

310.120 Marking.(A) Required Information. All conductors and cables

shall be marked to indicate the following information, using

the applicable method described in 310.120(B):

(1) The maximum rated voltage.

(2) The proper type letter or letters for the type of wire or

cable as specified elsewhere in this Code.

(3) The manufacturer’s name, trademark, or other distinctive

marking by which the organization responsible for

the product can be readily identified.

(4) The AWG size or circular mil area.

Informational Note: See Conductor Properties, Table 8 of

Chapter 9, for conductor area expressed in SI units for

conductor sizes specified in AWG or circular mil area.

(5) Cable assemblies where the neutral conductor is small

The three conductor SE cable goes straight from the meter cab on the exterior wall to the panel on the opposite interior wall. The outer sheathing was completely removed; I don't think subject to physical damage and 338.100 prohibits this as a wiring method or recognized type of wiring as it would be to remove the sheathing from Romex.

I'm told the code prohibits the outer covering or sheathing be completely removed from SE cable, is this correct?

Francis
