Pedicure stations were mentioned in the context of another thread, here: https://www.thebuildingcodeforum.com/forum/threads/exception-to-handrails.35977/

I commented that I had never seen a pedicure station on a raised platform. "Never say never." I now have an application for a new salon, with two pedicure stations on a raised platform. There are a NOT of other issues with the application, so it has been denied for now and a lengthy plan review sent to the applicant. While we wait for a resubmittal, is there any consensus as to what form of access is required for a pedicure chair that's on a platform?

This should be a “women only” thread.
Are you sure you're from California?

Story time:
My wife was from from a frugal midwest family, and a mani was a luxury in her small town. In our younger married days, we splurged on a weekend in Laguna and she went to a pedicurist.
A "Real Housewives of Orange County" type of woman came in, with her ~3 year old daughter in tow, both in dark sunglasses. The mom got a mani, and the 3 year old insisted she get her nails colored too. She stood with her fingers reaching up to the edge of the table, and the manicurist just barely got the color on before she got the wiggles/squirmies. She was ready to move on. But to what?

"Yaco, mommy? Yaco??"
What the heck is "Yaco", my wife is wondering. Maybe like Barney the dinosaur, or a teletubby knockoff?

"YACO, mommy!!"

"No sweetie, we can't go to the Yacht Club today, maybe tomorrow".

I assume you meant a "LOT" of other issues.

Can the same pedicure services be offered in the same general area without being on a raised platform?

Probably not.
