Anyone have a code section for this one? I am not talking about the 3' window clearance....

POCO called me and told me thet were going to replace their triplex but said the SEU on the house was in bad shape....I don't know how they can see it through the siding....

I am going to go with 230.6 via 230.32.....

Make sure you look at the exception. IMO this may apply here as the bottom part is really the area that opens. The idea is to make sure someone doesn't accidentally grab the wires from the window. It seems like that is not an issue there but....

Not looking at the window Dennis....they sided over the SEU drop from the weatherhead....GF, I don't want to use "nearest the entrance" becuase no one will define that (but I do agree) I only use that actually interior to the structure (and even then I had an arguement from our state EI)...I think 230.32 says that it needs to be exposed (visible on the exterior of the building) or protected...Maybe 230.50A?

Sorry I missed that. Yes, that would be a call by the authority having jurisdiction. IMO, it is a violation as that could be considered inside the building. Years ago it was common to recess a meter and the riser in brick-- It is really a question that is hard to answer as to whether or not that is in the building.

If there were SE cable as a riser and someone boxed it in with a wooden box, would you consider that inside the building???? Hard one to call.

Yep...concealed "unfused" power is bad....I've seen 3 houses burn down from that....Part of why I am trying to get away from 230.70 and the "entrance" to the building thing....Thanks Guys!
