In your jurisdiction, would a permit be required for replacing a pair of existing doors in a hospital means of egress with new doors and hardware? The frame is existing to remain. Would your answer change if the door was fire-rated? Would the occupancy type affect your answer? Or the location of the doors - ie. cross-corridor vs. a storage closet?

If you would require a permit, can you tell me where in the code (whichever one you use) this comes from?

Yes, a permit would be required [ here ]!....The occupancy type [ generally ]

is a "shade of red" flag in this AHJ......We, and our Fire Dept. would want

to verify the existing frame itself is properly rated, as well as, any new

doors, ...associated hardware, ...accessories, ...seals, etc.

The code section that we use is Section 105.1, from the `06 IBC.
