I wanted to get everyones take on allowing PET Screen material to be used by itself in a screened porch >30" above grade without using spindles and/or a guard rail in addition to.

If the product can show application techniques and testing showing that it meets the minimum pressure rating for guard material, would you allow it?

To answer my own question... I asked the makers of the product PET SCREEN if they could show their product was capapble of meeting the req's and they responded back that they WERE NOT.

Guardrails it is!

any screen material DOES NOT take the place of guards... (just like window screens don't provide fall protection).

As I understand it ANY material capable of withstanding 50 lbs of pressure in a one sf area is permitted for the guard area, and that could in fact be a screen material.
