Physics and Velocity

The video deals with the velocity of the balls. What is far more interesting is comparing their travel times. In other words, what shape of path yields the least transit time? This is called the Brachistochrone problem which led to the discovery of the calculus of variations. The shape of the curve turns out to be a cycloid.
