Hey Everyone,

If you have been interviewed for a role as a plans/zoning examiner for a Canadian municipality, what was the interview like? What were the questions that they asked you? I have an interview next week and i wanted to prepare myself as best as i can. Thanks in advance!

My last time was 14 years ago, so it may be dated.

A lot was personality based (i.e.: how I solve problems). Some technical stuff based on the common types of buildings they see there.

Mostly people are not expected to be overly familiar with the municipalities by-laws, but it would be a good idea to run through their building and zoning by-law.

Knowledge of the Ontario building code and building act would be a good place to start.

I mostly got pollical questions. Like what would you do if the mayor told you to approve a plan that does not comply to codes or what would you do if the applicant had pollical ties or doing a review ahead of others that were there before that one.
