I work part time as a home inspector, and every house shows me something I have never seen.

This one showed me a plywood section of an air handling system. :o

A box right past the supply end of the unit that has ducts mounted on three of its faces.

Site-built ingenuity, no?

Is there any way that plywood could pass muster on flame spread, smoke development, etc?

Re: plywood distribution box

Jim - You didn't ask about 'energy code', you asked about about flame spread, smoke develpment, etc. (or is the energy code the etc.? :D )

Gotta make the R-8 somehow... or is it inside the thermal envelope? This things not embedded in a rated wall or anything, is it?
