Portable gasoline generator in basement storage area

Is there a Code restriction for keeping a portable 3.5kw generator with a 4 gallon gasoline fuel tank in a basement storage room? The building is Group B, fully sprinklered and the storage room is each own 1 hr fire compartment.
Most NFPA references for flammable liquids exempt such fuel tanks from the relevant articles.
