Is anyone requiring testing of private wells to determine if the water is safe?

the county health dept requires a permit and they verify the water is potable by receiving a copy of the the water testing results from a lab. my neighbor had a well drilled and the health dept made him have it abandoned due to unacceptable levels of arsenic in the water. It may have saved his life the way the health dept put it. Mine was tested clean 20 years before he drilled.

yes our wells on install have to be tested per local board of health regulations, rather stiff testing requirments, then never tested again for private homes. for public wtr supply wells monthgy testing, thowe weels the sever ofer 25 people for 60 days or more.

County Health Department does that here, no wells permitted in AHJ without special use permit and council approval, which again requires testing.
