An older auditorium/lecture hall (O/L 260) has a projection room equipped with a fusible link, roll down fire shutter. During a recent inspection, the shutter failed to fully close. Management wishes to eliminate the shutter, and fire & building codes allow the removal in 409.2, last sentence.
I actually suggested the removal because a new ceiling mounted digital projector was installed a couple years ago. This new projector is wireless controlled, by a laptop from the podium. Most of these are stored on thumb drives, one prof uses his smart phone. No one remembers the last time any film was even used!
This post is more a comment on rapidly evolving technology, I guess.
