Public school shower concrete trench drain

Instead of a metal trench drain installed into concrete, can the concrete itself be a trench drain, with intermediate floor drains collecting into an underground main? Kind of like an outdoor concrete swale? And then within the concrete trench will be sloped into the floor drain so two shower stalls will have wastewater flow into one shared floor drain.
The CPC says wastewater can't spill between two showers, so the thinking is the swale/ditch/trench will prevent that.
Thanks. Any thoughts or insights on this will help!
