ICC/ANSI A117.1-2009 requires signs to be on latch side of door. What if there is no latch? This is for an self storage unit with a overhead door.

Does all the doors not just the accessible units in this 350 unit self storage building will need a raised character sign per 2015 IBC E107.2 ?

E107.2 Designations. Interior and exterior signs identifying
permanent rooms and spaces shall be raised characters and
Braille. Where pictograms are provided as designations of
interior rooms and spaces, the pictograms shall have raised
characters and Braille text descriptors.
Exceptions:
1. Exterior signs that are not located at the door to the
space they serve are not required to comply.
2. Building directories, menus, seat and row designations
in assembly areas, occupant names, building
addresses and company names and logos are not
required to comply.
3. Signs in parking facilities are not required to comply.
4. Temporary (seven days or less) signs are not
required to comply.
5. In detention and correctional facilities, signs not
located in public areas are not required to comply.
This section applies to signs that provide designations,
labels or names for interior rooms or spaces
where the sign is not likely to change over time.

Examples include room numbers in hospitals or

The commentary seems to conflict the code....But by the code section, I say if the units are numbered or labelled....Yes, all tactile and braille...

1110.4 (03 IBC) just speaks to interior specifically...
