Existing flat roof, less than 1/16" / ft slope. Re-roofing and adding extra rigid insulation. Is the roof slope required to be brought up to the current code requirement of 1/4" / ft?

I'm not sure what classification (1, 2, or 3) this whole project is yet. We are converting un-conditioned space to conditioned space, building an addition, renovating the interior. I figure we'll be a class 3.

Thanks in advance.

1510.1 General.

Materials and methods of application used for recovering or replacing an existing roof covering shall comply with the requirements of Chapter 15.

Exception: Reroofing shall not be required to meet the minimum design slope requirement of one-quarter unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (2-percent slope) in Section 1507 for roofs that provide positive roof drainage.

You might also want to have their engineer check to see if any additional snow load wil be incurred due to the added insulation....had one a couple towns over where at some point in history they designed for "melt and drainage" then added insulation years later and blammo....roof collapse!

Steveray has some points. It is important that you check this first with the existing engineer to prevent miscalculations.
