Not where I really want to be
Just processed another Sawhorse refund to someone who retired and forgot to stop their auto-pay. You guys have to stop getting older and retiring for Pete's sake. How am I supposed to pay the forum bills around here? Our costs have doubled over the past year. Shheeshhh.

I wonder if a Patreon “tip jar” would be something people would use, whether or not they have an account. Maybe a Greenhorn gets some help and is feeling happy and generous at that moment and throws you a few bucks. Seems like I see some YouTube channels with the Patreon accounts but no way to know if they have many supporters.

it is an idea worth considering. thank you.

Can you change the payment so that it's not an automatic renewal? Once a year you get a message that it's time to re-up, that wouldn't be too bad, or maybe every second year? It would also be an opportunity to raise your price.

<duck out of the way for thrown objects>

Maybe limit the number of characters in a post to non-payers, or limit the length of the responses they can see? Maybe limit the number of posts per day?

That would be my personal preference, as a standard policy I don’t want to authorize anyone to be able to automatically charge my credit card. But with that said, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

It is not unreasonable to expect things to go up in price, things get more expensive and a business can only absorb increases in the cost of their operation for so long.

Check this out, I didn’t know there was an option to contribute $10.00, I don’t remember seeing that before, that’s basically as good as my suggestion for a Patreon tip jar. Not sure how a Greenhorn will know this is an option if it’s only on the page regarding upgrading their account.
