Does this section of code language:

" Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair and replacement without removing permanent construction "

require an HVAC installer to position the service side ( openable compartment side ) of the evaporator unit to face the required service platform. With evaporators reversed, the service panel does not face the platform thus inspection, servicing, repairing cannot be performed without a complete removal of the mechanical equipment.

There is local theory this code section allows the reversal because the " removing permanent construction " applies to fixed construction other than

the HVAC equipment itself.

Reversed evaporator unit installed in attic - M 1305.1.3.

M1305.1 is general requirement, M1305.1.3 is specific to attics, "A level sevice space at least 30" deep and 30" wide

shall be present along ALL sides of the appliance where access is required.

You need to be able to somewhat easily service the unit or it won't get serviced............
