From the `06 IRC, Section R502.5:
R502.5 Allowable girder spans.
"The allowable spans of girders fabricated of dimension lumber shall
not exceed the values set forth in Tables R502.5(1) and R502.5(2)."
Looks the maximum span for a roof & ceiling application, ...30 lb. snow
load, ...20 ft. bldg. width is: 12' - 2"

Just had a 20'4" span with roof and CEILING. Engineering came back with TWO 1-3/4"x14" 1.9E LVL's with end support having two jacks and two kings on each end.
Same span as a alternate design came back with FOUR 1-3/4"x11-7/8" 1.9E LVL's with same end support.
