have got a rooftop swamp cooler that is closer than 6' to a 25' drop off the edge. need a 42" high guardrail per the mechanical code but the code does not specify how long it needs to be.anyone have some specifics?

Swing an arc 10" (I think) from the entire unit any point you touch the edge...you need it.....as brief as can be...but that should work...

Stupid typo......that's what happens when you are in a rush.....10' swings waaaaay better than 10"....wouldn't even get access to the equipment in 10"!

The guard must extend 30" beyond each end of the appliance per 304.10 (2006 IMC).
