Is this possible in Canada to have such a security door in the middle of an intermediate landing in an exit stairway? I don't think so because just by being there it could slow down or delay the emergency response operations.

From what I know the door on the drawing is there to block the access to the basement parking spaces.Define security door and welcome to THE forum!
I thought it would go against the NBC intent statements like it could slow down the evacuation interventions just because the door is there. Very interesting. From what I can figure out the second purpose of that door has to do with smoke control in case of a fire.If it does not actually stop egress, the concept is sound, but the landing and a bunch of other stuff could be a problem....
Exactly the code section I was thinking of...And I also don't do Canada....Additionally, in the US, a barrier is required at the level of exit discharge to prevent occupants from unintentionally continuing down a stairway past the level of exit discharge (IBC 1023.8, 2024 edition). In this situation, a simple gate will suffice and is not intended to be a security measure.
