Maybe I'm lazy or just kind of dumb, but one of the Embassy's has a question. Can the Contractor put both ventilation air duct and an exhaust chimney in the same shaft. Sounds like it should be a no brainer, but it's already been a frustating week and I can't find a specific prohibitation in the IMC. Anybody?

Rather than make any assumptions, peach, could you provide more information on the "boiler/chimney exhaust". You referenced only the IMC, not the IFGC, so one can only assume that this design is not related to a natural gas or propane? That would leave either oil-fired or solid fuel?

I assume heating oil, however, I turned the question over to our mechanical plan reviewer (who should have more direct knowledge). The installation, apparently, violates the construction codes of the county actually having jurisdiction, they are going to stop it.
