Hello All!

I am working on an educational project on a university campus for an HVAC vocational program. They're using open space above their storage room and office for a mezzanine since the existing building is so tall.

Are there ADA exceptions for having a ships ladder, vertical rung ladder, or similar? Is this allowed to be placed for students/faculty to climb for equipment as needed? Will it need to be a normal staircase?

Mezzanine floor will be at a 9'6-10' elevation. The total platform square foot will be around 330sqft.

Thanks!!

Technically....No....if it is just a training area for equipment access training (like you would normally use a ladder), I would find a way to approve it...
